What if some of the thoughts you believe most deeply about yourself were never really yours to begin with?
I’m not good enough.
Money is hard to make.
I always choose the wrong people.
I’m not confident.
Things never work out for me.
Maybe you heard them growing up. Maybe they came from painful experiences, relationships, comparison, or years of repeating the same thought until it started sounding like truth.
Our brains are constantly learning from experience and repetition. Over time, frequently repeated thoughts and behaviours can become more automatic.
And that matters because you don’t just think from your beliefs. You live from them.
Your beliefs can influence what you notice, what you expect, what you tolerate, what you avoid and the choices you make.
So what happens when you become more intentional about what you repeatedly feed your mind?
Four Ways to Become More Intentional With Your Mind
There isn’t one perfect practice. Some days you may want to actively work through your thoughts. Other days you may simply need to quiet the noise.
Here are four tools you can experiment with.
Subliminals: Repetition
Think of subliminals as intentional background messaging.
Subliminal audios typically contain affirmations layered quietly beneath music, nature sounds or other audio so you are not consciously focusing on every statement.
You might choose one centred around confidence, self-worth, abundance, motivation or inner peace.
There is limited scientific evidence that hidden affirmations alone can dramatically reprogram your subconscious or manifest specific outcomes. Instead, think of subliminals as one tool within a larger practice of becoming intentional about the messages you surround yourself with.
Instead of unconsciously reinforcing “I can’t,” “I’m not,” or “What if everything goes wrong?”, you are deliberately introducing a different message.

Guided Meditation: Awareness
If subliminals are about repetition, guided meditation is about awareness.
A guided meditation gives your mind somewhere to focus while helping you slow down, breathe, visualize and observe what is happening internally.
Instead of automatically thinking:
“I’m not capable.”
You begin noticing:
“I’m having the thought that I’m not capable.”
That distinction matters.
Because once you can observe a thought, you can begin questioning whether it deserves to keep directing your life.

Meditation Music & Nature Sounds: Environment
Sometimes you don’t need more words.
You need less noise.
Meditation music and nature sounds can create a peaceful backdrop for journaling, stretching, reading, meditating, falling asleep or simply being still.
Think of it as intentionally changing the atmosphere around you so your mind has an opportunity to slow down.
You don’t always have to be actively working on yourself. Sometimes creating space to simply be is the practice.
Binaural Beats: Mental State
Binaural beats use slightly different tones in each ear, which creates the perception of an additional rhythmic beat.
People often use them alongside meditation, relaxation, sleep or focused work. Research into their effects is still developing, so think of them as another optional tool rather than a treatment or guaranteed way to change your brain.
If you use true binaural beats, wear headphones so each ear receives its intended tone.

The Missing Piece: Action
You can listen to every subliminal, meditation and frequency on the internet and still continue living from the same old beliefs.
Because listening alone is not the transformation.
Imagine listening to “I trust myself” every morning, then spending the rest of the day second-guessing every decision and asking everyone else what you should do.
Your audio is reinforcing one message.
Your actions are reinforcing another.
That’s why I love combining:
Repetition + Awareness + Environment + Action
Subliminals can introduce supportive messages.
Guided meditation can help you notice your thoughts.
Meditation music and binaural beats can support the environment or mental state you want to create.
But your choices give you real-life evidence that another way of living is possible.
Try the 7-Day Subconscious Experiment
Choose one belief you want to work on.
Not ten. Just one.
Old story:
I can’t trust myself.
New story:
I trust myself to make decisions and handle what comes next.
For the next seven days, experiment with intentionally supporting that new belief.
Morning: Before scrolling or checking messages, choose one practice. Listen to a subliminal connected to your new belief, do a guided meditation, or create a peaceful morning with meditation music or binaural beats.
During the day: Catch the old story when it appears. Don’t fight it. Simply notice: That’s the old story.
Then ask yourself:
“If I believed my new story, what would I do differently right now?”
Do one small thing.
If you’re practising confidence, speak up once.
If you’re practising self-trust, make one decision without asking for reassurance.
If you’re practising worthiness, honour one need without over-explaining it.
Before bed: Write down one piece of evidence that supports your new belief.
I handled something difficult today.
I spoke up even though I was nervous.
I trusted my decision.
I honoured what I needed.
If you want something playing while you journal or fall asleep, this is a beautiful time for relaxing meditation music, nature sounds or an audio you find calming.
After seven days, read your evidence back to yourself.
You may realize something important:
You weren’t simply repeating a new belief and hoping it would become true.
You were beginning to create experiences that showed your mind something different was possible.
Your mind has been learning from what you repeatedly think, hear, experience and practise your entire life.
Perhaps the most powerful question you can ask isn’t:
“What do I believe about myself?”
It’s:
“What am I teaching myself to believe every day?”
My Favorite Channels:
High Frequency Guru – Subliminals and affirmation-based audios focused on self-concept, confidence, abundance, relationships, healing and personal transformation.
The Honest Guys – My go-to for guided meditation. Their calming guided visualizations are perfect for relaxation, sleep, stress relief and quieting an overactive mind. They’re especially great if sitting in silence and trying to meditate on your own feels difficult.
Nature Healing Society – My go-to for meditation music, nature sounds and peaceful background frequencies. Perfect for mornings, journaling, meditation, relaxing or simply creating a calmer energy in your space.
Good Vibes – Binaural Beats – My go-to for binaural beats. Their tracks combine music with different brainwave frequencies and are great for meditation, relaxation, focus or winding down. For true binaural-beat tracks, headphones are generally needed to deliver a different tone to each ear.
