In May of 2017 after teaching 9 yoga classes that week I could barely walk up the stairs. A couple of my girlfriends. As I was having trouble climbing the stairs my friend Lyn Martin talked about the importances of magnesium. We talked about the way people currently take magnesium and how most people do not tolerate it well taking it orally. She referenced a book called Transdermal Magnesium, in which I immediately downloaded on my iPhone .
We spoke about using magnesium tropically applied on the skin as it absorbs well without acting as a laxative when taken orally. The more we talked about it the more I was convinced I needed to make this magic potion and cream. So we set up cooking this in my kitchen. It turns out that I haven’t felt this good since. Over time I played with the recipe perfecting it until the consistency was right. Within 20 minutes of using the first application I was walking up the stairs normally.
I continued to use the magnesium oil/cream daily ever since. Not only did I sleep better, my mood changed, the things that would bother me in the past just rolled right off me. My energy level was better, aniexty & depression a thing of the past, as weeks went by and I continued to use it and read more and more on the benefits I was in awe of why so many people are ill. I am the person when I find something good I believe everyone should know, so thats what I did. I told everyone that would listen and made sure that they all had a good supply. The benefits of magnesium transdermal is as essential as oxygen to the brain. The more you learn about the magnesium the more you will connect the dots between aliments ,most of what ails us is a direct deficiency of magnesium. Every cell in our bodies require magnesium. We require 300-400 mg per day.
Back in the 80”s the medical community pushed mag/cal supplements , however the ratio was 2-1 calcium being higher than magnesium , the problem is to much calcium without the balance of magnesium actually does more damage, clogging arteries and quite possibly causing heart attacks. The reason the push from the medical community was to help prevent osteoporosis in women, in fact there were no changes what so ever .
So since we are on the topic of osteoporosis I failed to mention I was diagnosed back in 1999 with osteoporosis in both knees. I have taken no medication from doctors, only using natural remedies along the way. I am also a holistic practitioner mainly using homeopathy. Since using magnesium I am not limited to anything. I recently journeyed to the Dominican Republic and taught 35 yoga classes in 16 days, in between using my magnesium oil and cream I felt amazing. Keeping in mine that the humidity also aggravates osteoporosis causing higher inflammation. I also walked the beaches over 10,000 steps 3-4 times. I know it wouldn’t have happened without the magnesium.

Top 10 Benefits of Magnesium (and Why You’re Probably Deficient)
Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body—yet it’s one of the most common nutrient deficiencies worldwide. From muscle cramps to mood swings, this overlooked mineral may be the missing link in your wellness.
Top 10 Life-Changing Benefits of Magnesium
- Relieves Muscle Pain & Cramps – Especially effective when applied topically, bypassing the digestive system.
- Improves Sleep Quality – Magnesium helps the body produce melatonin and calms the nervous system for deeper rest.
- Supports Mood & Reduces Anxiety – Known as “nature’s chill pill,” it helps regulate GABA, your calming neurotransmitter.
- Boosts Energy Levels – It’s essential in ATP production (your cellular energy). A lack of magnesium = low energy.
- Eases PMS Symptoms – Balances hormones, reduces bloating, cramping, and mood fluctuations.
- Promotes Heart Health – Helps regulate heartbeat, blood pressure, and prevents arterial calcification.
- Improves Bone Strength – Magnesium helps shuttle calcium into the bones, not just the bloodstream.
- Aids Digestion & Relieves Constipation – Especially oral forms like magnesium citrate, though topical avoids the laxative effect.
- Reduces Inflammation – Plays a key role in calming systemic inflammation, which underlies many chronic conditions.
- Helps with Headaches & Migraines – Low magnesium is a known trigger; restoring levels often reduces frequency and intensity.
Types of Magnesium & How to Use Them
Not all magnesium is created equal, here’s what to know:
| Magnesium Chloride | Transdermal use (oil/cream) | Fast absorption, ideal for sore muscles & sleep |
| Magnesium Glycinate | Anxiety, sleep, stress | Gentle on the stomach, calming |
| Magnesium Citrate | Constipation, digestion support | Can cause loose stools |
| Magnesium Malate | Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia | Supports energy production |
| Magnesium Threonate | Brain fog, cognitive support | Crosses the blood-brain barrier |
| Epsom Salt (Mag Sulfate) | Detox baths, tension relief | External use only for detoxification |
Did You Know?
- Stress burns magnesium fast. The more stress you’re under, the more magnesium you need.
- Sugar, caffeine, and alcohol all deplete magnesium. Even if you “eat well,” you may still be low.
- Topical magnesium avoids digestive upset and can restore levels much faster – especially for those with gut issues or poor absorption.
You don’t need more willpower – you need more minerals. Magnesium is the missing link your body has been waiting for.
